5 TIPS TO MIX UP YOUR MAKEUP BAG FOR WARMER WEATHER

With warmer days fast approaching, it's time to get out of your makeup rut and start emulating lighter, fresher, glowier makeup with subtle pops of color in all the right places. Here are my top 5 tips to getting your makeup bag ready for what's to come:

  1. Lighten up your daytime base - Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizers are nothing short of classic. Opt for a moisturizing formula, or an oil-free one should you be concerned about being too dewy in the warmer weather.
  2. Swap out heavy liquid lipsticks for smooth satins - Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour still manage to look matte, but are much lighter weight and more hydrating than liquid formulas. These come in the most beautiful array of colors...
  3. Become a bronze goddess - Heavier cream contours may no longer be as appropriate for the hot'n'steamy days ahead. Of course, you can wear whatever you choose, but thick layers feel uncomfortable to me when things heat up, so I opt for a lighter sweep of bronzer (I like Tom Ford's) to define my features instead. I also love to use bronze shades on my eyes as well, as it gives a summer twist on a smokey eye and looks like you've just come back from vacation.
  4. Add a subtle hint of color - In one place at a time. Either a bold lip, swipe of navy liquid liner (or another jewel-tone), or a graduated neutral-to pink shadow. I love the Laura Mercier Extreme Neutrals Eye Shadow Palette for a choice of beautifully blendable neutrals (and a few quirky bolds), Lancôme's Artliner (liquid) now have an exceptional range of shades, or Lancôme's Drama Liqui-Pencils for a favorite pencil liner that last exceptionally long.
  5. Glow all out - Use a glow-getting primer in places you want to add a bit of extra radiance. Either apply in sections for a more subtle look, or all over for a more intense lit-from-within glow. I like to use the Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer in Dim Light on my cheeks and chin, and then use their Veil Mineral Primer on my t-zone to create the perfect balance of natural, non-oily glow.
